Claire Daniels trustee at CHSF

Written by Trio Media

We’re delighted to announce that in November, our CEO Claire Daniels was announced as one of the latest Trustees to join the board at Children’s Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF).

CHSF is a self-funded, regional charity established in 1988 by then heart surgeon Duncan Walker. The charity supports the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit based in Leeds General Infirmary, its patients, and their families by funding care and treatment. CHSF provide state-of-the-art medical equipment, parent accommodation and ward facilities, plus staff training, essential research, and clinical posts. As part of her role as trustee, Claire will share joint responsibility for governing the charity whilst supporting the Executives to deliver on strategic plans for growth.

Claire’s appointment comes as the charity looks to achieve strategic growth in digital marketing, and so Trio Media are also providing additional support in terms of maintenance of the CHSF website.

Speaking of her appointment, Daniels said “It’s an honour to join such a worthwhile charity and lend my expertise. It’s been eye-opening to learn that each year, around 17,000 babies, children and adults pass through the Heart Unit in Leeds as inpatients, with around 1,600 undergoing surgery and interventional procedures, and as outpatients in Leeds and at clinics across the region.

“CHSF is the only charity in the region that supports babies, children and adults with CHD, from the womb through to adulthood.  CHD affects almost 8 in 1,000 newborn babies in the UK each year. I’ve already met so many inspirational people as part of my role as Trustee, and I really look forward to giving back to such a great cause.

“Going into 2022, my team and I are looking forward to taking part in a number of fundraising initiatives – I’ve even had my arm twisted to do the skydive! So please make sure you reach deep into your wallets to sponsor us.”

CEO of CHSF Sharon Milner added: “CHSF are thrilled that Claire has joined as Trustee and her knowledge, contacts and support within digital marketing are already contributing greatly to our Board and team.

“Next year will mark a period of further growth for our charity. We are planning to increase CHSF staffing further and deliver more holistic care for the whole family plus numerous vital projects within the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit.”
