Meet our AI Engineer – Mahmoud Fadlelmula

Written by Trio Media

Welcome to our latest edition of Meet the Team. Our Trio family keeps growing, and we’re excited to introduce our newest member!

With AI taking the world by storm, it wasn’t enough for us to start using it to summarise meeting notes or generate ideas. We decided to go one step further and invest in building our own AI, a tool that would make us more efficient as an agency by taking perfect briefs!

We were lucky enough to secure a grant for a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) through Innovate UK, and we have partnered with the University of Huddersfield to complete this project. Mahmoud, our AI engineer, will help deliver the project.

He’s full of talent and was one of the top performers on his course. Mahmoud has been with us for a month, but we already know so much about him. The best part? He has the best meal deal order in the entire office!

Let’s get to know Mahmoud and his quirks in his own words!

What is your day-to-day role at Trio Media?

With my supervisors’ guidance, I run tests using state-of-the-art AI models to evaluate capabilities and limitations. This involves using conversational AI for client communication and generative AI to create briefs based on clients’ responses.

Over the next few months, I will continue focusing on the exploration phase by reviewing the competitive landscape and analysing the technologies competitors use in marketing, including but not limited to marketing briefs.

What did you do before joining Trio?

I graduated this year from the University of Huddersfield with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a major in artificial intelligence. Like every other uni student, I used to work part-time to support my studies.

I’ve worked as a resident assistant at a student accommodation (Central Village). I helped students with queries, prepared for summer conferences, reported maintenance and covered reception.

What are some of your interests outside of work?

I love playing football, video games and table tennis. But I am mostly interested in salvaging second-hand cars and flipping them for a profit. I buy salvageable cars from online auctions, specifically from a website called Copart.

After I pick up the car, I carefully analyse what repairs and fixes it needs. Once I’ve completed that diagnosis, I start fixing it. If I get stuck, I just refer to YouTube. Yeah, I’ve learnt everything I know about fixing cars through YouTube! I’ve got the tools and everything. Here is a quick before and after of the car I recently fixed!

What made you want to get into AI and digital marketing?

What drew me to AI and digital marketing was the constantly growing field. This helps me push myself to always be adaptive and keep up with trends. It also drives me to explore new tools and strategies.

Since AI is relatively new, it opens the door to innovations and discoveries across all sectors. Similarly, digital marketing is a field that constantly shifts with emerging technologies and consumer behaviour, which challenges me to stay creative.

What have you enjoyed about working at Trio so far?

I’ve enjoyed the work environment; it’s my first time working in an office. I didn’t expect to have so much fun! The huddle, weekly lunch and quiz, Thursday walks and company events (like Stockeld Park’s Christmas experience) are all very unique.

Everyone is friendly and welcoming; it feels like a family. They helped me settle into my role and in the office, where there is always nonstop chatter. I am really happy to be part of such an incredible team and excited to contribute to the company.

What advice would you give to someone working in AI?

Whilst AI’s notion of ‘stealing jobs’ is not quite there yet, at least not as close as you think (it’s a worry for the future generation), Al still has a long way to go as it’s presently being fed data and taught how to respond to prompts.

For now, AI can be your personal assistant. Use NotetakingLM to take notes and summarise points, and leverage DavinciAI for picture and image generation. Use Supernormal for instant meeting notes and transcript recording.

AI doesn’t have to be scary – you just need to know how to use it to your advantage!

Need a marketing agency that keeps up with the times?

At Trio, we’re constantly staying one step ahead, even regarding AI. We’re excited to see what Mahmoud builds in the next few months. In the meantime, check out our CEO’s weekly LinkedIn blogs on our AI development. We’ll keep you updated on the ins and outs of this journey.

As Mahmoud said, our team is always happy to help. Call us at 0113 733 2020 or contact us online today. For more updates, follow us on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn!
