Beware! Facebook scammer pretending to work at Trio Media

Written by Trio Media

It has come to our attention that a serial scammer is pretending to work at Trio Media in order to fraudulently scam people out of money on Facebook Marketplace.

This person does not, and never has, worked at Trio Media, and is faking our identity in order to attempt to legitimise his scamming activity.

It first came to our attention a couple of months ago that someone with a fake name was selling cameras on Facebook Marketplace. He pretended that he works at Trio Media, and in order to give his ‘customers’ peace of mind about who they’re paying, he said he would send them an invoice from his workplace. He has mentioned our CEO, Claire Daniels, by name, and is using a forged invoice that has our logo, address and contact details on them.

We have seen several copies of these invoices and messages he has sent to others, pretending he works here. We want to reiterate, he does not work at Trio Media and you should not send him any money.

Unfortunately, we have heard from too many people that have been scammed and lost hundreds of pounds. If you have fallen victim to the scam, please report it to Action Fraud. We have already reported it to the local police and Action Fraud but the more people that report him, the more chance we can stop him. Please also report his profile on Facebook.

The most recent names we’re aware of him using include Marcus Donovan and Dan Twine.

Please look out for this and do not fall victim to the scam!

If it looks too good to be true, it probably is! Unfortunately we are taking several phone calls about this per week and it is becoming a major distraction to our business. Please follow our suggested reporting channels to have the appropriate authorities deal with your issue. If you have sent money, it’s also worth contacting your bank to see if there’s anything they can do to recover the funds.

There is nothing more we can do, please be vigilant online and be aware of scams.
