What is your day-to-day role at Trio Media?
As Project Manager, I organise, plan and deliver website projects within the client’s budget, retainer and schedule. I’m on the Client Delivery team, so I’ll lead our developers, designers and copywriters for new projects and maintenance work.
For any project I’m assigned, I will be the key point of contact. I handle all stakeholder communications and ensure we meet all expectations. My role includes creating timelines, managing project resources and assessing potential risks. I’m also working on a plan to improve our project management system for better delivery.
What did you use to do before joining Trio?
I’ve worked in a lot of exciting industries before Trio. For the last decade, I’ve worked in project and process management roles for marketing agencies, retailers and wine importers.
Before joining, I worked at a design agency handling projects and proofreading copy for new websites. I love the written word, so I freelanced as a proofreader, helping to spot mistakes and improve copywriting.
What are some of your interests outside of work?
My time working at a wine importer grew my love for fine wine. I enjoy tasting new varieties and pairing them with delicious meals. I also love speaking Spanish. I learnt this language during my year abroad in Mexico whilst I studied Latin American Studies at the University of Liverpool. It’s been a while since I last visited a Spanish-speaking country, so I’d love to go again!
I have two young daughters who love to go out. I’m their personal chauffeur – I take them to swim, dance and bike classes, and we participate in fun family adventures. When I have free time, I go to the cinema. Before the kids, my husband and I went to the cinema weekly. I’m such a film geek that I once had a James Bond 18th birthday party… those were the times!
What made you want to get into project management?
I’ve had the pleasure of working in lots of sectors and different roles. This experience allowed me to find a role that suited my interests, skills and expertise. Project Management requires you to be meticulous, organised and strategic, which are skills I possess.
After having children, I wanted a role to help me focus on my career again. Working as a Project Manager did just that. It allows me to look at projects holistically and manage different disciplines.
What have you enjoyed about working at Trio so far?
Trio is busy, which is what you want as a Project Manager. There’s always something going on, whether partnering with big clients or planning for Christmas campaigns.
Everyone is very friendly and has invited me into an industry I’ve never experienced. I’m happy to say that this place is for me! I enjoy working with so many disciplines and learning more about digital marketing.
What advice would you give to someone working in project management?
Project management is all about being meticulous. You need to identify weaknesses, troubleshoot and be ready to handle anything that comes your way. As such, being organised is essential. If you’re not, the project won’t go to plan.
Digital marketing is a great industry to project manage. There are many areas with different skill sets, so being a central person to bring everyone together is essential.
