Meet The Team: Jess Fairclough

It’s time for another edition of Meet The Team and we’d like to introduce our video and multimedia executive Jess Fairclough. Since joining the team, Jess has been involved in a huge range of exciting projects and she’s put her video skills to the test.

What is your day to-to-day role at Trio Media and how did you get started?

I reached out to Trio Media after finding their Instagram account and thinking that they looked like such a fun and friendly company to work for. I was looking for a placement during my third year at the University of Leeds studying film, photography and media so I thought I could be a good fit.

I’m in charge of creating and running all the Trio Media social accounts and making digital marketing look as fun as possible! I also do photography and video production for Trio and their clients, so I’ll go out to clients and film content for them to use on their social accounts or websites. I definitely have the most fun job in the office. I make TikToks!

What made you interested in starting a career in digital marketing?

I always thought marketing was fascinating as I think in day-to-day life it goes unnoticed by so many people, but it’s one of the most important parts of a business. It’s like the subtle ways to get people interested in a product or service, without them even realising.

What is it about Trio Media and the work culture that gets you excited?

Trio Media is a really positive work environment. Everyone is so friendly and supportive. If I ever need help with anything they’re more than happy to give me a hand. When I first started I was thrown into the deep end but with the assistance of everyone I found my footing within the first few days and I was good to go.

The nature of my job is that every project I’m involved in is totally different, and I love the variation of content I get to create, as well as getting to meet so many new people and being involved in the growth of their brands.

What’re some of your interests outside of work?

Naturally I’m passionate about photography and filmmaking, but I’m still a student at heart so I can’t not say going out and socialising. That has of course been difficult over the last year or so but I’m slowly getting back into it more recently.

I also love going to the gym, although I haven’t quite got into the routine of going before my job starts at 9AM just yet (how do I get up so early?)

How do you see your digital marketing career developing?

I’d love to continue filmmaking and photography to help advertising and promoting for clients, because it adds to my experience as well as helping their brand awareness and providing more content for them to use on their website or social media accounts.

What are the most enjoyable and challenging aspects of your role?

I enjoy the more practical aspects of my job the most. This means going out to clients and filming content for them and then creating and editing something I can be proud of.

It’s an unusual hobby because it’s just as challenging as it is enjoyable, especially when a client requires something I’m not as confident with. But learning on the job is such a rewarding aspect of what I do and it makes the end result feel a lot more worthwhile.

And of course filming TikToks and Instagram Reels in the office is always such a laugh because I get to force all the Trio team to get involved in them!

How do you see video marketing developing in the future and what trends do you see in the next few years?

I think marketing companies and teams will start to use generally ‘younger’ platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels to reach larger audiences. They’re such a simple way to grow your brand. One viral video can generate a huge amount of buzz which will lead to sales for your company.
