An Introduction to Running Riot

Creativity is at the heart of everything we do – and when what we do starts to feel too familiar, we know it’s time to shake things up. That’s why we’re excited to share a new concept we’ve been developing behind the scenes.

What is Running Riot?

Running Riot is our creativity lab at Trio, where we push boundaries and build bold ideas. It’s where we test the latest strategies and technologies to produce new concepts.

At Trio, performance drives everything we do — and through Running Riot, we’re showing how bold thinking turns that performance up a gear.

Think you’ve seen the name Running Riot before? It was previously the name of our podcast and vlog series, which we’re reusing to encompass the bigger initiative around thinking outside the box and embracing creative chaos.

Where did the idea come from?

Fun fact: rearrange ‘Trio’ and you get ‘Riot’. At one point, we considered a brand name change, but people know us well as Trio, so we chose to have some fun with it instead.

Although some definitions of riot stand for “a violent disturbance of the peace”, it is also known for describing “an impressively large or varied display of something”. We like to think we’re somewhere in the middle… an impressive disturbance of the peace, shall we say. Think disruptive, different ideas.

The idea is simple: anything we want to do that sits outside of the day-to-day life and processes of an agency falls under Running Riot. Whether that be testing a new idea before bringing it to market, or simply doing something a bit out of the ordinary. It’s a way of giving an identity to something intangible, but that we are committed to doing.

How do I get involved with Running Riot?

If you’re an existing client of ours, then your first taste of Running Riot is on its way to you this month. We’ve produced a branded game to help organisations have fun, get competitive and collaborate with each other.
